About Pastor Allen D. Smith

Reverend Allen D. Smith recently celebrated eight years as the pastor of the St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Salina, Kansas.  His roots began in Rayville, LA where he resided and graduated salutatorian from high school.  He migrated to Baton Rouge, LA and furthered his education by attending Southern University and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics.  He is married to Shalonda and together they have been blessed with two children, Adria and Devin.

Rev. Smith’s pastoral ministry began in Kansas City, MO where he accepted his call into the ministry under the leadership of Rev. Earl Abel, pastor of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ.  He received further ministerial training from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  After completing an Evangelistic Journey in Egypt, Pastor Smith felt the Lord leading him away from his secular job and began to pursue full-time ministry.  Pastor Smith became the undershepherd of the St. John’s flock on Easter Sunday 1999.

With God’s direction, he has completed a worship facility that will allow him and his congregation to minister to spiritual and physical needs of all people.  Pastor Smith is trying to “reach out to help others reach their full potential”.  He is currently involved as mentor for youth and adults throughout the Salinan community and an example for others everywhere.  His goal is “to improve the quality of life for everyone”.

Pastor Smith was named as one of five people in his community “Making A Difference”.  In addition to being pastor of a growing, multiracial congregation in Kansas, he is also actively involved in the following local, state, and national entities:

  • Member of the Saline County Homeless Taskforce
  • Board member of Community Development Corporation for low income housing
  • Board President for the Martin Luther King Jr. CACFP program
